Trempealeau County offers more than 500 miles of road biking routes and other great options, including scenic state trails.

Trempealeau County is home to the largest connected bicycle loop system in the United States—more than 500 miles of paved backroads take riders through a unique scenic landscape in western Wisconsin. These county roads and other routes usually only see about three cars an hour, so riders don’t have to worry about sharing the road with lots of traffic.

There are 18 bicycle loops totaling 487 miles throughout the county; see the individual listings below for more information. These routes pass through Trempealeau County’s cities and towns and offer scenic rides and some challenging hill climbs.

Other popular biking routes include the Great River State Trail in southern Trempealeau County and the Buffalo River State Trail (which is suitable for wider-tire bikes).
