Old Main was the heart of Gale College, founded in 1854. After the college closed in 1940, the building became Marynook, a Catholic center, until 1994. The City of Galesville bought it in 1995, and in 2000 the Garden of Eden Preservation Society took it on as the Old Main Cultural Center.
